The Detailed Itinerary of 3 Days Trip from Marrakech to Fes
Day 1: From Marrakech to Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Skoura – Dades
Our 3-day tour from Marrakech to Fes is replete with oasis views, palms, and vast stony plains that start unveiling in front of your eyes from Day 1. Once you are greeted by an MCT guide and meet your travel group, you will leave Marrakech through the twisting Tizi n’Tichka pass dotted with stunning High Atlas Mountain vistas. That’s a promising beginning!
When out of the city, you will have a comfy ride to visit UNESCO World Heritage site Ait Ben Haddou. The ride takes approximately three and a half hours, but you will never feel bored. Engage with fellow travelers, communicate with MCT guides, or take pictures through car windows to eternalize your Moroccan experience.
When we are close to the destination, explore the region’s history and architecture. And don’t forget about Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Africa,” Kalaat M’gouna, and Skoura’s Berber villages. You’ll want to spend at least a couple of hours there to understand and be inspired by the local beauty.
Dades Gorges guest houses will greet you for dining and an overnight stay. You are welcome to plan your evening time on your own.
Day 2: Dades – Todra Gorges – Jorf – Erfoud – Merzouga (Camel Ride & Night in Sahara)
On the second day of your 3-days desert tour from Marrakech to Fes, you will take a road excursion through Dades Gorges’ spectacular red-rock formations and Berber villages. This is a fantastic hiking path full of cultural wonders and the legacy of historical trading. The path covers Todra Gorges, Tenghir, Tinjdad, and Jorf.
Along the way, you’ll see limestone-created magnificence throughout a series of natural canyons. If you are into photography, be sure to plunge into this rocky paradise to capture it with your camera. One thing’s for sure: you won’t resist framing it when you are back home.
Eventually, you will find yourself in Merzouga. The desert oasis of Tafilalet begins at Erfoud. When staying at Merzouga’s Berber Luxury Camp, you can ride camels into the Erg Chebbi sand dunes, watch the sunset, and sleep in Berber tents in the Sahara Desert to drum music. The Camp has essential amenities for tourists.
Day 3: Merzouga – Er Rissani – Ziz Valley – Azrou – Ifrane – Fez
Waking up in Moroccan nature feels absolutely empowering, even for those who like hotel-level amenities. Once you experience this yourself at Merzouga Camp, you’re ready for the final chapter of your Marrakech-to-Fes desert tour for 3 days. Of course, you will also have time to have breakfast and wash the sand away in a fresh shower.
The ride from Merzouga to Fez is a full-day one. But don’t worry: you’ll have something to remember from it except extended travel time. Before you get bored in the vehicle, we will stop to have some tea and meet a nomadic family in a local settlement. Enjoy the refreshing drink and hop back to continue our journey.
A couple of hours later, we’ll arrange another stop to have lunch in the high plains of Midelt. This is the perfect time to replenish some energy and catch your breath. Besides, the city’s elevation is 1488 meters, so you’ll have a lot to see from the top.
Our return journey is scheduled to be reset in the afternoon when the heat is less intense and easier for travelers to handle. You’ll know your Marrakech-to-Fes 3-days desert tour is over when you are greeted by the warm colors of Morocco’s truly authentic city.
