Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Casablanca

    Our driver will greet you at Mohammed V International Airport, depending on the time of your arrival, then transfer you to your accommodation, and you’ll have the day to relax.

    

      DAY 2: Casablanca – Rabat (95kms)

     Our journey continues with a visit to Morocco’s commercial capital, and largest city. Visit Mohammed V Square which is the city’s most impressive architecture, the majestic Hassan II Mosque, the Habbous District, the central market, and the residential districts of Anfa and Ain Diab, famous for their gardens, beaches. Continue to Rabat, your sightseeing in Rabat will include the Mechouar (the ramparts and walls surrounding the Royal Palace), the majestic Mohammed V Mausoleum, the Hassan Tower and the Oudaya Kasbah, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and offering fabulous views, as well as being home to Moroccan artisan galleries.  Overnight in Rabat.

 

     

       DAY 3: Rabat – Asilah – Tangier (249kms)

     Our adventure will continue, from Rabat to Tangier along the stunning coastal road. Visit Asilah, a beautiful coastal town with its whitewashed houses, blue walls and doors, and many murals.  Tangier, the gateway to Africa from Europe, has always been an international melting pot.  Take a tour of Tangier and explore the bustling medina, enjoy the stunning vista where the Mediterranean and Atlantic oceans meet.  Overnight in Tangier.

 

       DAY 4: Tangier – Chefchaouen (110kms)

     Depart from Tangier,  for the enchanting mountain of Chefchaouen,  passing through the green valleys of the Rif Mountains. Chefchaouen is famous for its vivid blue-rinsed houses for both tourists and Moroccans,  particularly in the hot summer months. Explore Chefchaouen, with its winding lanes and narrow alleys which are home to numerous souks. Offering cuisine and artisan works, such as woolen items, intricate embroidery, and goats cheese natural to the North and not found anywhere else in Morocco. Relax in the square, visit a local farm or hike in nearby parks. Overnight in Chefchaouen.

     

      DAY 5: Chefchaouen – Fez (200kms)

     Depart Chefchaouen for Fez.  This scenic drive takes you from high in the Rif Mountains to Ouezzane, and on through rolling and fertile hillsides back to Fez.

 

         DAY 6: Fez

    Following Casablanca and Rabat, we visit Fez, the intellectual center of Africa, and Mecca of the West. The second most populous city after Casablanca. The country’s four imperial cities include its historic capital. Fez has three parts: Fez el Bali, the oldest portion encircled by a wall, with about 297 small streets and alleys. The Mellah, the Jewish district, and the Ville Nouvelle, Fez’s newest area, are in Fez-Jdid. UNESCO designated Fez El Bali. World’s biggest medina. World’s oldest university in its alleys. The 859-year-old Al-Karaouine University. This University operates nowadays.

       DAY 7: Fez – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Erfoud (410kms)

      After the breakfast, Leaving Fez and going to Merzouga, passing through Ifrane to arrive at the cedar forests of Azrou where the wild monkeys are located. It will be a good opportunity to take photos of the Morrocan forest. Lunch in a small Berber village of Zaida. We continue the way through the Atlas Mountains enjoying the landscapes of Medilt, to arrive at the small town Erfoud. in which we’ll feel the beginning of the Saharan oasis of Tafilalet and then continue to Merzouga. we will spend the night in a hotel at Merzouga.

 

        DAY 8: Erfoud – Rissani – Merzouga (60kms)

      The journey continues after breakfast in the hotel, you’ll start your explorative adventure of the area, by exploring the small desert town Erfoud and Rissani. In the afternoon, the adventure will start by riding a camel, guided by an experienced Camel man, to explore inside the mysterious sand-sea of the Erg-Chebbi. At the Camp,  you will spend your night under the stars, or if you prefer, in a traditional Berber nomad tent. Dinner will be served at the Camp where you will spend the night. 

*If a camel trek is not really your thing, you can still experience the magic of the dunes by staying in a hotel right at their edge.

 

      

       DAY 9: Merzouga – Goulmima – Amellago (214kms)

      After seeing the sunrise in the desert,  we go back on camels to Merzouga. After breakfast,  shower in the Hotel then starts our journey to Amellago. Through Gris Valley, the Heart and the Soul of Imazighen (Berbers), to meet our family.  Time it right and see traditional harvests of the wheat, olives or almonds.  Overnight in Amellago, Gite Haut Atlas.

 

      DAY 10: Amellago – Todra – Boumalne Dades (169kms)

     Your adventure will continue through the High Atlas Mountains, to the magnificent Todra gorges, where the towering canyons reach heights of 250 meters.  Picture the river valleys for a beautiful journey.  After exploring Todra, continue to Boumalne Dades, through its snaking road lines, amazing rock formations, small cultivated fields with silver birch along the river, and pass along dozens of predominantly seventeenth-century kasbahs made from the local red mud.  Overnight in Dades.

DAY 11: Boumalne Dades – Kelaat M’Gouna – Skoura – Ouarzazate (111kms)

     Along the way to the rose city, Kelaat M’Gouna where a rose festival is held every May.  Drive on to Skoura oasis, along a tributary of the Draa, the Oued Amerdil is an extraordinary sight even from the road, a very extensive, dense palm trees and an incredible confusing network of tracks winding across palms to scattered groups of Ksour and kasbah.  This whole region is called The Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs. Overnight in Ouarzazate.

     Day 12: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakesh (203kms)

    After a traditional breakfast, set off to Marrakesh via the Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site, used for shooting films more than any other location in Morocco, Movies like Lawrence of Arabia and The Gladiator… Continue to Marrakesh, via the stunning Tichka Pass (2260m) which offers dramatic panoramic views in the heart of the Atlas Mountain chain.  Overnight in Marrakech.

DAY 13: Marrakesh

     The entire day is devoted to explore the famous city of Marrakesh, the second oldest Imperial city. Which has for centuries been an important stop for traders and travelers.  Your tour will include the Menara Gardens, the famous The Majorelle Garden, the Bahia Palace, and the Saadian Tombs.  Visit the Koutoubia Mosque, with its 77-meter high minaret dominating the center of Marrakesh. In the afternoon visit Djemaa El Fna Square, the center square of the medina which comes alive at night with local storytellers, musicians, entertainers, snake charmers and the scent of delicious food being grilled over hot coals.  Overnight in Marrakesh.

DAY 14: Marrakesh – Essaouira (160kms)

     Depart mid-morning for the city of Essaouira on the Atlantic Coast.  A welcome respite from the bustle of Marrakesh, relax over a freshly caught fish lunch, stroll through the serene squares, browse artisan shops and galleries, and observe the handicrafts of the ’tuya’ wood found only in Morocco.  Overnight in Essaouira.

      Day 15: Essaouira – Safi – El Jadida – Casablanca (270kms)

     After breakfast depart to Safi, a former Portuguese fortress famous for its sardines, pottery, and ceramics.  Continue, via the coastal road, to Oualidia, a serene fishing village.  Enjoy lunch while you gaze out over the quite natural seawater lagoon, separated only by a sand bar from the wild waves of the Atlantic.  Continue to El Jadida, a former Portuguese colony, and UNESCO World Heritage Site.  Continue to Casablanca.  Overnight in Casablanca.

Day 16: Casablanca

    Transfer to Mohammed V International Airport for Departure.
