5-Day Marrakech To Merzouga Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech – the High Atlas Mountains – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Skoura – Dades

Our 5-day Tour From Marrakech To Merzouga starts at 08:00 pm, from Marrakesh to Dades Valley via the High Atlas mountains Tizi n’Tichka. Stopping from time to time, to enjoy the impressive landscapes and Berber hamlets. On our way, we will visit the Universal Heritage Site of Ait Benhaddou Kasbah as it was named by UNESCO in 1987. This Berber Kasbahs has been used as a very important destination for international filmmakers, for more than 20 films. One of the most important fortress strongholds on the old Salt Road where caravans brought slaves, gold, ivory, salt, and silk from sub-Saharan countries to Marrakesh and beyond. We’ll pass through Ouarzazate, or what we call the Hollywood of Africa since it has been as well a very famous destination for filmmakers. After Ouarzazate, we will continue to Dades Valley, through the Kalaat Megouna, and Skoura (Berber villages around the valley). we will spend the night in Dades Valley.

Day 2: Dades – Todra Gorges – Jorf – Erfoud – Merzouga (Camel Ride & Night in Sahara)

After breakfast, we will start the second day of our 5 days tour from Marrakech to Merzouga, going from Dades Gorges to the Erg Chebbi Sahara desert in Merzouga. Berber villages are scattered along the way, we will pass through Todra Gorges, Tenghir, Tinjdad, and Jorf. Then to Erfoud where we will feel the beginning of the Saharan Oasis of Tafilalet, we continue to a Hotel in Merzouga, after relaxing for a few minutes you will take some of your luggage in a small bag (the necessary for the night in the desert), leave the other luggage in the hotel. Time to ride camels on an adventure crossing the Erg Chebbi sand dunes, this is a great opportunity to take lovely pictures of the sunset and sunrise. when we reach the camp we will leave the camels and we walk to the highest sand dunes, for Sandboarding and to watch the sunset. We will spend the night in a desert camp (Berber nomad tents) with drum music in the middle of the Sahara.

Day 3: Full-Day Exploring Merzouga Sites

Rising early to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the desert is a must. After enjoying a leisurely breakfast, you’ll return to Merzouga on camelback, where your driver will be ready to greet you. The day will be filled with exploration in the Merzouga region, showcasing stunning landscapes that include vast dunes, serene lakes, ancient mines, and fossil-rich sites, along with enchanting oases perfect for a variety of outdoor adventures.

Our adventure to Merzouga begins with a stop at an ancient Fossiles mine area, followed by a visit to the nomads residing in their intricately woven tents, where we gain insight into their lifestyle while sipping on traditional Berber tea. Next, we head to the village of Khamlia to experience the vibrant music and dance of the Gnaouas, whose roots trace back to regions south of the Sahara, including Mali, Sudan, and Niger. After enjoying some free time for lunch at a local restaurant ( Berber Pizza), we take a leisurely stroll through a lush palm grove. Finally, we drive a short distance to the enchanting Oasis of Hassi Labiad village, where we will enjoy dinner and spend the night at a hotel.

Day 4: Merzouga - Rissani - Agdez -Ouarzazate

morning greets you with a serene sunrise from the hotel terrace, setting the tone for your adventure. Our first stop is Rissani Market Day, where we’ll explore the vibrant traditional souk. Afterward, we’ll make our way to Ouarzazate, taking in the breathtaking views of Agdez along the route. In the afternoon, we’ll check into your accommodation.

Day 5: Ouarzazate - High Atlas Mountains - Tizi N'tichika - Marrakech

After enjoying breakfast at the hotel or Riad, we will depart for the renowned Kasbah Taourirt and the studios that have put Ouarzazate on the map. Following our exploration of these remarkable sites, we will journey back to Marrakech, taking in the breathtaking views of the High Atlas mountains along the way. We will make several stops, including a visit to the historic Kasbah Telouet, one of the oldest in the region. After touring this ancient fortress, we will proceed through the Tizi N’tichka pass and pause for a delightful lunch before reaching the vibrant red city.
